Mould testing, assessment, and removal services
Mould and fungal growth require attention
Mould and other indoor fungal growth and microbial agents can be a big problem for property owners and building occupants. Mould and fungal growth levels are dependent on the availability of moisture, growth sources, and time. That means the key to controlling mould growth inside your building is to control moisture build-up.
Causes of moisture accumulation inside buildings include the following:
- flooding events,
- elevated relative humidity,
- pipe breaks or leaks from plumbing systems or appliances,
- roof leaks or building envelope deficiencies,
- toilet and sewer backups, and
- site drainage problems.
Addressing mould and fungal growth
SCS can help your company address any mould and fungal growth issues you may be experiencing. The services available to you include the following:
- bulk or tape-lift sampling,
- viable and non-viable fungal spore air sampling,
- laboratory analysis,
- risk assessment,
- scope of work development,
- remediation inspection services, and
- post-remediation air/surface sampling confirmation.
Bulk, tape-lift, and air samples are submitted to Environmental Microbiology Proficiency Analytical Testing (EMPAT) accredited laboratories for analysis of fungal spores to genus for non-viable samples, and to species for viable air samples. All fungal assessments are conducted in accordance with the Alberta Jobs, Skills, Labour and Training Best Practices – Mould at the Work Site (July 2009) Guideline document.
Based on the findings of sampling and on-site assessment during mould testing, SCS can help develop and implement appropriate and cost-effective control measures for you.
